36. Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
37. But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.

You don’t have to swear for people to believe us
Matthew 23.
16. “Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, ‘Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’
17. You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
18. ‘Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated?’
19. You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?
20. He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything on it.
21. He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who was living in it.
22. He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.

Swearing means we are calling God to testify for us and what if what we are saying is a lie what did we want to happen or expected to happen..

WHY PEOPLE SWEAR

LACK OF TRUST..
1 Samuel 24.
21. Swear now therefore to me by Yahweh, that you will not cut off my offspring after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father’s house.”
22. David swore to Saul. Saul went home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold.

Because saul didn’t trust David and he ask David to swear..

1. Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

John 8.
44. You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.

Well we might be thinking about the swearing in of the Government post.
Well, the Bible say give respect for those who owns the authority because is involved in everything.
Romans 13.
1. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God.

If you are in that post and swear but doing against the what you’ve sworn because you think you with the power you can do anyhow you like. You’ve forgotten that every power and authority belongs to God, if God didn’t want you to be there you won’t know. No matter how you try, no matter how people are backing you up the will of God will surely come to pass.
