This is well-known to the Christians as the 23rd Psalm which is mostly known to everyone

David as a man of genius, a shepherd, a poet, a musician and a Man of God’s heart has six powerful verses that give us deep insight into the shepherd’s role of our father, God and blessed redeemer and saviour Jesus Christ

WHO IS A VOCATIONAL SHEPHERD

A vocational shepherd tends to feed and watches over weak defenceless sheep.

2. Faithfulness all towards the young and the feeble Isa. 40 :1

A club or rod is generally used to protect the sheep 2Sam.23:21

The staff is used for recalling sheep beating bushes and low bush in which the flock stray and where snakes and dangerous animals abound Gen 32:10

The shepherd also carries bag made of leather and thrown over the shoulder to carry provisions 1sam 40:14

WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT THE VERSES PSALM 23

1. THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD, I SHALL NOT WANT

JEHOVAH MY SHEPHERD: This is well know as a close relationship with God ( psalm 77:20 )

The opening verse of psalm has given us one of God redemptive name ” I shall not want ” This remind us of the redemptive name of almighty God

JEHOVAH JIREH : The lord our provider

Genesis 22:13-14

This has reminded us that God will faithfully meet our needs

11. HE MAKETH ME TO LIE DOWN IN GREEN PASTURE ,HE LEADS ME BESIDES STILL WATER

Pasture is the major need of the sheep,since there is provisional for all physical, spiritual and material need of the sheep. Green pasture are provided to all believer of christ Mattew 6:25,33

The trusted believer is aware of the will of God II John 2

JEHOVAH SHALOM : The lord our peace ✌️ 🙏 judge 6:24

III. HE RESTORETH MY SOUL ,HE LEADETH ME IN THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR HIS NAME SAKE

This verse presents God as a healer of his people JEHOVAH RAPHA..Exodus 15:26 The lord has provide ” he will heal their backsliding I will love them freely Hosea 14:4

WARNINGS: There is great risk in staying outside the fold, if you’re reading the path of the Righteousness, the divine promise for loving is in the psalm ,The blessedness of being. The lord’s sheep can only be enjoyed to the fullest by those who have tested his sanctifying Grace.

IV. YEA THROUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL FOR THOU ART WITH ME, THY ROD AND THY STAFF THEY COMFORT ME .

Divine protection and security is promised every believer in this verse ” I will fear no Evil ” Faith in the lion of the tribe of judah makes the believer to through the world obvious of the enemy’s threat

The word Faith appear 243 times in new testament

Any believer who walk and live in Faith will laugh at the roaring of the lion and walk majestically and victoriously across the valley of shadow of death (Psalm 27:1)

JEHOVAH SHAMMAH : The lord who’s ever present is your shepherd

V. THOU PREPAREST A TABLE BEFORE ME, IN THE PRESENCE OF MY ENEMIES THOU ANOINTEST MY HEAD WITH OIL CUP RUNNETH OVER.

This verse is talking about the picture of abundance and sufficient provision for the believer in psalms 24:1 The earth is the Lord’s and fullness thereof the world and they that dwell there in .This is very important to know that the believer will recieve all blessing in present of his enemies. We don’t need to be fear in as much we have the jehovoha Nissi .the lord banner has cover us, devil can’t harm us ,find he can tempt us but the Lord has has given us grace to overcome it and and Promised us victory over him and spiritual power our cup will always run over.

VI. SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY SHALL FOLLOW US ALL THE DAYS OF OUR LIFE AND WE SHALL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER.

The 23rd psalm end with a note of obsolute certainly. The lord our shepherd is the same yesterday, today and forevermore [ Hebrew 13:8 ] Goodness and mercy are the believer lifeling companonsense if you follow the good shepherd consistently, peace ,protection, preservation Provision and every physical and spiritual blessing will be yours .

Come yee breathen and taste and see the lord is Good psalm 34:8
